 About The Work I Do

"I have need of some serious work on my right side from over contracted muscles - a condition of several years. Progress is being made to loosen and release those muscles. I could not be more pleased. The added value Brent provides me,...I am grateful."

I am honored to receive feeback like that from my clients.

MY STORY

I had to stop playing soccer a decade ago, after 24 years of playing, due to chronic Achilles’ tendon problems that made running painful, and left me literally limping for 2-3 days afterwards.

I went to see the orthopedic surgeon that had reconstructed my left ACL in the early 1990's (very successfully, BTW!), and this time he was unable to help me. There was no surgery that was required, yet there were no effective therapeutic methods that helped to get me back on the pitch.

I started a search to find ways to reduce my pain, increase my range of motion, and leave me free to live my life the way I wanted -- for me, I simply did not want to limp in pain after exercising.

Bottom line: Massage, specifically therapeutic massage and bodywork, allowed me to run again. I completed my first 5k race in July of 2010, a decade after I quit playing competitive soccer, and my body functions at a much higher level than even five years ago. Therapeutic massage and bodywork produced the results I was seeking.

I chose to study and practice therapeutic massage and bodywork to not have others go through what I did.

TRAINING

I am a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT)

I am licensed through the State of Illinois as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT).

I studied and graduated with a Diploma of Massage Therapy and Asian Bodywork from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago.

MODALITY AND METHODS

I practice a clothes-on therapeutic massage. Why? Two reasons. One is because that is how I was trained. Two, because you will be moving! You will be stretching, changing positions, and working. Therefore, loose fitting clothing (sweat pants and a t-shirt) are necessary.

My training is in various modalities that have one primary purpose: to eliminate muscle pain and dysfunction. I incorporate Tui Na, Thai Massage, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, Clinical, and Sports Massage to achieve that goal.

My goal of "eliminating your muscle pain so you can live the life you were meant to live," is not just a phrase to me. It is my reality – I am living now the life I was meant to live. I have found that incorporating various massage techniques gets the best results. I am honored to have been trained in all the disciplines I have, and to have learned what I have learned.

I hope that you will agree with me once we work together.
